This project presents the results of study of imagery and the theme of child upbringing in selected Sebei proverbs. A research was carried out where 50proverbs were collected and each one of them that was initially in sabiny was translated to English, after which each one of the Proverbs was categorized under the different aspects of style and ideas. Through the methodology used which was mainly interviews, it was discovered that proverbs were mainly used by the elderly to warn, advice, curb a vice and even to teach, depending on the circumstances at hand. It was also noted that one's attitude towards Proverbs depends on their interests towards them since today the younger generation are more taken up in other activities which is why they tend to brush off proverbs as being traditional. Besides that, factors like schools which prohibit the use of vernacular in schools and rural urban migrations that deprive children of knowing their local languages. It was noted that it is the elderly who often use them which means they are still relevant in our societies since we live with some of these people which means the younger generation can still learn and adapt the use of proverbs if they are interested, their attitude towards them determines whether this is possible
