A REPORT ON FIELD ATTACHMENT / INTERNSHIP AT NDEJJE H/C IV FROM 10TH NOV 2020 TO 27TH JAN 2021
Field attachment conducted at Ndejje H/C IV enabled me to relate theory (class work) with various practicals conducted and skills at hand gained during the internship training, also provided me an opportunity to apply the principles and techniques theoretically learnt into real-life problem-solving situation. Under this, daily and periodical activities were carried out such looking for missing files, filling health facility reports in box files, engaging in compiling of health facility weekly and monthly reports, backing up of data, introduction to use of EMR, registering new patients in EMR, data entry in dhis2 system, updating KP tracker system, updating ART and Prep registers, data cleaning in EMR system, receiving monthly reports of other facilities, data validation in EMR system and data extraction of weekly and monthly reports in EMR system. Through performing the daily and periodical activities, such as receiving monthly reports of other health facilities, the approach of first come first serve was highly observed and followed. During updating KP tracker system and EMR system, high level of confidentiality was maintained. During data cleaning and validation in EMR system, high level of accuracy was maintained. Engaging in compiling of weekly and monthly health facility reports as well as filling of health facility reports a method of observation was used to aid the operation of those activities. A number of experiences were drawn as a result of performing the daily and periodical activities such as use of EMR, dhis2 and KP tracker data base systems during data entry, validation, cleaning and extraction of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports. Also use of medical registers to update patients who had come for ART and PREP refills. However, there were also challenges that were faced during the field attachment such as work overload, limited office work space, limited knowledge on some medical terms and codes, transport expenses, no lunch/ breakfast facilitation, errors and omissions. Due to the above challenges, several recommendations are to be suggested to Ndejje H/C IV such as improving on office work space in records department in order to widen its area of operation. That was the way through which the field attachment was carried out at Ndejje H/C IV. In conclusion, that was the way through which the field attachment was carried out at Ndejje H/C IV and it had muti-dimensional benefits on the internet’s side, University and Ndejje H/C IV as well.
