The study was about the effect of women participation in income generating activities towards economic development in Masaka Town Council the objectives of the study were, To identify income generating activities among women in Masaka Town Council. To find out challenges that affect women participation in income generating activity. To examine appropriate strategies to improve on the women participation in income generating activities This chapter two the literature reviews of the study. It consists of theoretical, empirical review and the theoretical review provides the meaning of concepts and variables used in the study while the empirical part presents a thorough review of studies related to this, conducted by other scholars and researchers which show the relationship existing between independent and dependent variables used in the study The study employed a cross-sectional survey research design involving both qualitative and quantitative research methods of data collection. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaire, interview and documentary reviews. Random sampling was used to select the sample. The study found out the on the income generating activities among women in Masaka Town Council are Poultry .Craftwork and Jewellery, Money Lending. Piggy among others could have much effect on women participation in income generating activities towards economic development, These strategies were activities that could be associated with aim of generating income and learning skills, Need for Assistance, Teach people to engage income generating activities, Inadequate Start-up Capital, Capacity building, which could be in turn used to create new inroads into improving income-generating and other areas like entrepreneurship. The study recommendations on providing assistance to these small enterprises, the emphasis must be on the provision of business development services In order for this strategy to succeed, that focuses on tapping the economic potential of women producers offer women the opportunity to join the labour force and to learn necessary, Capacity building, skills Government support Need for Assistance, Teach people to engage income generating activities, Inadequate Start-up Capital and encourage of women participation in income generating activities towards economic development .
