THE EFFECTS OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON THE PERFORMANCE OF THE EMPLOYEES: A CASE STUDY AT FUTURE LINK TECHNOLOGIES
The purpose of the study was to assess the effects of social media on the performance of employees at Future Link Technologies in Kampala central division in central part of Uganda. Social media in Africa has played a key important role among the employees which makes the work much more easier for example most employees are creative, innovated through the use of social media for example creation of different ideas and business marketing is done through using different social media platforms like Facebook, twitter, whatsapp, tiktok and other social media platforms which are very useful in any organization. Therefore in Uganda, most employees are using social media through sharing information to different people concerning the work activities, creation of new ideas, sending and texting of messages, because it is flexible for everyone. The research study was primarily aimed at assessing the effects of social media on the performance of employees. A Case study at Future Link Technologies in Kampala central division in central part of Uganda. The research study was based on various objectives; (i)To determine the different social media platforms used by the employees at Future Link Technologies (ii) To establish the relationship between social media and performance of the employees at Future Link Technologies. (iii) To find out the potential challenges and solutions associated with employees using social media at Future Link technologies. The study further sought to establish more information about the background of social media on the performance of employees before the introduction new programs on the way how social media can be utilized well and to use it very well. Questionnaires and interviews were used in collecting primary data which was later presented in a tabular form. Chi-square analysis was used in finding out the relationship between the study variables and the decisions were based on the chi square values obtained from SPSS.Qualitative analysis was used in explaining the different study findings and conclusions were later drawn based on the findings.
