Information and communication technology (ICT) has become an important source of innovation and improvement of efficiency for many sectors including the education sector across the globe. This has not left Ugandaand Makerere University in particular. This study therefore is aimed at assessing the impact of ICT on the performance of Makerere university students as the overall objective. The specific objectives of this study included, finding out whether there is a significant relationship between possession of electronic gadgets and the performance of students, finding out, those students in possession of ICT tools, how those tools are used, ascertaining ICT adoption by different lecturers and students in various course units, ascertaining whether the university provides enough ICT equipment to the students and finding out the difficulties students at Makerere university students encounter in adoption of ICT for learning purposes.By using both qualitative and quantitative research approach, a sample of 96 students at SSP, data were collected about ICT adoption and its use and the performance of the students. This data was analyzed using both univariate as well as bivariate (chi-square) analysis. The results of the study revealed that there was no significant relationship between the different ICT gadgets used, the way they are used and their performance. The findings further revealed on the other hand that there exists significant relationship between the lecturers‟ ICT adoption and university support against the performance of the students. However, students‟ major concern was on the network issues and high costs of data, as the results revealed. Finally, the research is summarized with the discussion of findings and recommendations to the government, university as well as the students.
