A REPORT ON VIRTUAL INTERNSHIP FROM 14 AUGUST TO 1 ST SEPTEMBER 2021
This report entails my learning experiences, tasks performed while doing this virtual internship and relatedness of activities of the company to my course of industrial and organizational psychology. The intended purpose and objectives of this internship were; to acquire new knowledge and practical experiences, to improve confidence in problem solving, to have an opportunity to relate with different categories of people likely to be met in the real-life situation, to apply knowledge gained in my course of study at the university to the work of the institution, to gain exposure to the demands and challenges of the work place, to get opportunity to meet and work with potential employers and to have improved appreciation of the profession and therefore better work. During this period of virtual internship, I obtained training in management of payroll and computation of HR taxes, computation of retirement and other employee benefits, writing a human resources manual and interpretation of employment laws, setting up and managing a community based organization, managing performance, handling grievances and disciplinary actions, and modern worker. Like any other working experience, there are numerous lessons drawn from my virtual internship. I have been blessed with several benefits during this entire period of training like; new knowledge, developed and refined skills and networking with professionals. I also faced a few challenges and I have given a few recommendations to both the university and the organizers of the online internship. In conclusion, this entire virtual internship period has sufficiently prepared me for the demands of today‟s workforce through gaining valuable work experience and enabling me explore my career path.
