KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDES OF MOTHERS TOWARDS COMPLIANCE TO IMMUNIZATION SCHEDULE OF THE UNDER FIVE AT KISWA KCCA HEALTH CENTER

The study was carried out to assess knowledge and attitudes of mothers towards compliance to immunization schedule of the under-five. The study was descriptive and cross-sectional, a questionnaire was used to collect data from 40 respondents and data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The study results showed that 70% of the respondents didn‟t know the full immunization schedule, 82.5% of the respondents didn‟t know all immunisable diseases, 80% of respondents agreed that missing scheduled immunization puts the child at higher risk of preventable diseases and 52.5% of the respondents did not miss to immunize their children because of lack of immunization card. In conclusion, respondents lacked knowledge on the immunization schedule most especially the immunisable diseases and their interval, although they also had a good attitude towards immunization. The study recommends that service providers should go an extra mile to evaluate clients on information provided to ascertain on their understandings and help them design better ways to pass on their information.
