COMMUNICATION DIFFICULTIES IN PATIENTS WITH HEARING LOSS ATTENDING ENT CLINIC IN MULAGO NATIONAL REFERRAL HOSPITAL
Introduction Communication becomes difficult in people with hearing loss and the higher the degree of hearing loss, the more difficult it is to effectively communicate. This causes major communication difficulties in patients with hearing loss Objective The objective of the study is to find out the communication difficulties in adults with hearing loss and how the communication difficulties affect their interaction with in their environment. The outcome of the study will help in management of the patients. Methodology This will be a prospective cross sectional study design conducted for a period of 1 month at the ENT outpatient clinic at MNRH. Simple consecutive sampling will be used to recruit the patients to obtain a sample size. Ethical consideration Permission will be sought from the Ear Nose and Throat department, Makerere University College of health sciences, school of medicine and Mulago National referral hospital. All the finding will be handled with utmost confidentiality and used only for the study. Dissemination of results The results of the study will be availed to the department of ENT, Makerere university library, sir Albert cook library and the SLT resource centre.
