A MANAGEMENT CASE STUDY OF MAKERERE UNIVERSITYFARM KABANYOLO (MUARIK)

This case study report comprises of seven chapters with each having different topics while some chapters are interdependent on one another in a way that the data presented in one chapter is being applied in another chapter. Each chapter in this case study report shows specific and some of them are independent hence some chapters presented in this report must be read in a specific format and not in any order for Some parameters of this case study have been standardized for example botanical names of some weeds while others includes those of maize,soyabeans,banana,coffee,milk,temperature,and mean monthly rainfall are given in their respective SI units. Some of the objectives of this case study report are shown below; • To document actual decisions and situations faced by farms, groups, individuals and therefore familiarize the student with empirical decision rules, guidelines and procedures used in practice. • Enable students to make an inventory of farm and community resources. • To enable students interpret farm financial statements better. • To equip students with skills and knowledge for farm planning, budgeting and farm re-organization. • To enable students and communities/ farming and agribusiness and industrial sectors appreciate the value and use of farm records for analysis. • To prepare students for future scientific agricultural research e.g. research projects in agricultural forestry, agro-industrial development and agribusiness.
