Introduction: A brucella infection is among the most common human bacterial infections. They are distributed all over the world with high prevalence rates in tropical and sub-tropical countries mainly because human usually become infected by consuming unpasteurized milk or milk products from infected animals, inhaling it in dust on farms with infected animals or through direct contact with infected animals or surfaces. The main objective: This was to determine the prevalence of brucellosis among adult patients attending out patient department at Kidera health centre IV in Buyende District. Methods: The study was a descriptive cross sectional study employing both qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection. A total of 185 respondents were interviewed for quantitative data. The data collection tools where an interviewer administered questionnaires. A simple random sampling technique was used in the respondents. The data from the study was presented in form of frequency tables, figures and percentages. Results: About11.9 % of the 185 subjects were positive, 102 (55.1%) were females and 83 (44.9%) were males. 13 (12.7%) were females BAT positive and 9 (10.8%) of the men were BAT positive, of 136 participants who were animal keepers, 17(12.5%) were BAT positive and of the 47 who were not animal keepers 5(10.2%) were BAT positive. 18(25.4%) of the 71 participants who eat un boiled milk(bongo) were BAT positive, 4(3.6%) of the 110 participants who eat prepared animal products were BAT positive. And 4 of the participants who do not eat animal were BAT negative, of the 185 clients who participated in the study, 4(16.7%) of the 24 who were aged 16-30 were BAT positive. 8(9.6%) of the 83 participants who were aged 31-45 were BAT positive. 6(10.7%) of the 56 who were aged 46-60 were BAT positive and 2 (9.1%) of the 22 who were 61 years and above were BAT positive. Recommendation: The community members should continue to utilize village health teams to promote prevention measures like proper preparation of food before eating and ensuring health of domestic animals. The local groups such as churches, schools, women’s associations and others should be involved in promoting public health education efforts, teaching them about the signs and symptoms of brucellosis and ways to reduce the risk of the infection. The government should increase the funding to district laboratories and health center laboratories and all health facilities so as to improve on the diagnosis of brucellosis.

In developing countries, Child sexual abuse is any behavior that exposes a child to sexual. Child abuse has led to many children contracting HIV/AIDS and STDS and increasing early pregnancies The purpose of the study was to identify the factors contributing to child sexual abuse in Makindye division. The study design was cross-sectional and descriptive and it employed both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. The findings showed that 57.5% of the respondents were males and 42.5% were females, 35% were between 18 – 28 years of age, 57.5% were married, 42.5% were business men and 52.5% had 4 children and above. Results show that 40% of respondents reported that most children who were abused stayed with step parent, 72.5% of them were not educated. 80% said were un able to provide basic needs for their children so these children dropped out of the school earlier and end up abused.,40% reported that children spent most of their time in video halls, 30% said most children who stayed with their siblings or single parents were abused most .and 62.5% said most abused children came from polygamous families, 90% reported that there were no social cultural norms that supported child sexual abuse, 5% mentioned that girls were assets and sexual objects while 5% mentioned that sex was a man’s right and men had a right to many sexual partners regardless of the age, 50% reported that most families resolved cases of child sexual abuse at family level and 75% said children with substance abusing parents were always sexually abused in their community. In conclusion single parenting/broken families, polygamous marriages substance abusive parents, school drop outs, and pornography by idlers were major factors that contributed to child sexual abuse and children who stayed with step parents were at a higher risk of child abuse. Also involvement in witch craft with a belief to break through poverty. I recommend that children’s rights be strictly observed by human rights activities, and government should ensure all children below 12years go to school given there is universal free education.

The main purpose of the study was to assess the influence of instructional materials on the teaching of social studies in primary schools in Bumanya Sub County –Kaliro District. The schools involved in the study include; Budehe primary school, Bumanya primary school and Bulyakubi primary school. The study captured response from 30 respondents equally spread among the three primary schools. This includes 3 head teachers, 9 teachers and 18 pupils. And the methods of data collection wasface to face interviews that were administered to the pupils, head teacher and teachers Three major objectives guided the study namely; i. To identify the different forms of instructional materials used in the teaching of social studies in primary schools ii. To determine the environmental factors influencing the use of instructional materials in the teaching of social studies in primary schools iii. To identify the challenges faced in accessing instructional materials on the teaching of social studies in primary schools From the study, it was found out that majority of the participant different forms of instructional materials used in the teaching of social studies in primary schools and the study found out that the most instrument materials used was text book in teaching social studies among the selected primary school as identified above. The most environmental factors influencing the use of instructional materials was space of time especially when teaching social studies, and most challenge faced in accessing instrumental materials on teaching of social studies was high cost of instructional materials for example chalkboard, graphs, charts, maps, pictures, radio among other. The study recommends that the government and the school heads should ensure that instructional materials are available in schools, ensuring that instructional materials are available in schools, processing of selecting instructional materials, the teachers should ensure that the material selected are commensurate to the topic and age level of the pupils especially for social studies in primary schools.

This study investigated the contribution of broadcast media in the control of early marriage in Namutumba district eastern region .the study was guided by the specific objectives that is;  To find out the causes of early marriages.  To find out the challenges faced by people who engaged in early marriage.  To establish the contribution of broadcast media in controlling early marriages in Namutumba district in eastern region. The study was carried out in Namutumba district ,eastern region.50 respondents participated in the exercise .the target group were the listeners of NBS FM ,government officials ,the early married peoples. The survey applied both qualitative and quantitative research designs for data collection, interpretations and analysis .this research report was arranged in five chapters. The study came up with the following recommendations. Future researchers; this research report is recommended to be used for literature review .therefore future researchers may use it for records. The researcher was also recommended to submit the findings of this report as partial fulfillment of requirement of award of diploma in journalism of UBTEB. Government public officials; and policy makers and society at large may use these findings as a guide to design policies and laws and how the media can pattern with other to control early marriage in Namutumba district. Media fraternity; the media owners, agencies, journalists, commentators and the audience may benefit from these findings especially as regards to programming. Public accounts committee officials and society at large may use this findings as guide in making accountability of the government and public resources.
